Aren’t electronic cigarettes supposed to be free of tobacco and tobacco byproducts?
YES, that’s the whole idea of an electronic cigarette! Free of tobacco, therefore free of the adverse effects that come with tobacco. You will see that many electronic cigarette manufacturers advertise them as being free of tobacco and therefore free of all the tobacco combustion products like tobacco tar, carbon monoxide, and all those 40+ carcinogens etc. etc.
But are they REALLY free of tobacco tar, carbon monoxide etc.?
According to many manufacturers of electric cigarettes, their products are in fact free of these toxic compounds. But the FDA showed that was not the case with some of the cartridges they tested. In a July 2009 report, the FDA reported that they found ‘Tobacco specific impurities’ in a particular cartridge of an electronic cigarette they tested. Pay particular attention to the phrase ‘Tobacco-specific’. If there was no tobacco in the product, how come there were ‘tobacco-specific’ impurities?
Is there a proper quality control in the E-Cig manufacturing process?
From the above findings by the FDA, we can only assume that the E-cig manufacturing process may not be properly regulated at least in case of certain manufacturers. Hopefully this was a thing of the past and has been corrected by E-cig manufacturers, but how would you know
How do you know which electric cigarettes manufacturers/brands are reliable and not?
This is the tricky part. We prefer to trust certifications by independent institutions/laboratories rather than going by claims on their sales copy without any proof, wouldn’t you?
As far as we’re concerned, there are two types of electronic cigarette brands/manufacturers
| Some Electronic Cigarette Manufacturers | Some Electronic Cigarette Manufacturers |

This is where electronic cigarette companies such as The Safe Cig and Green Smoke are a step ahead of most other vapor cigarette manufacturers. They have got their products tested by independent laboratories and the certificates are available on their websites for their buyers to look at.
You can check out the certificates of The Safe Cig here, the certificates of Green Smoke here or read our full reviews on these companies here.
We highly recommend that you purchase from one of these companies based on the criteria we mention on this page.
