SAFE E-Cigs vs UNSAFE E-Cigs

Really? Are there UNSAFE Electronic Cigarettes?

Yes and no! We have all seen these advertisements by electronic cigarette companies that say “electronic cigarettes have no tobacco, no tar, no ash etc. etc.” Are these claims scientifically proven or is it just something they’re just saying to sell you an electric cigarette?

Which one of these two Electronic Cigarette manufacturers would you buy from?

Electronic Cigarette Manufacturer A Electronic Cigarette Manufacturer B

As illustrated above, some E-cig manufacturers have extensively tested their products, obtained certificates from independent laboratories and are transparent about it while others don’t even disclose the exact ingredients. Which manufacturer would you trust? These are the simple facts you should pay attention to when deciding what the best electronic cigarette is.

Why should you be picky when choosing an Electronic Cigarette?

In July 2009, the FDA randomly tested several electronic cigarette cartridges and reported the following disturbing findings.

  1. Nicotine was found in a particular electronic cigarette cartridge that was listed as containing no nicotine – electric cigarettes are available in different strengths of nicotine like 24mg, 16mg, 11mg, 6mg and ZERO mg. If the manufacturer says it has ZERO nicotine, the relevant cartridge shouldn’t have any nicotine at all. But as the FDA found out, that was not the case with every cartridge that claims to be nicotine FREE. This is just an example that tells you that the process of E-cig manufacturing may not be so strictly regulated with certain manufactures. If a company could mess up the nicotine content, what assurance do you and I have that they or someone else wouldn’t mess up another ingredient? This is why we recommend that you go with a reliable manufacturer like the ones we mention below.
  2. On some of the cartridges tested, the FDA also found traces of tobacco specific impurities. How can an electronic cigarette that is supposed to be ‘tobacco-FREE’ have tobacco specific impurities? Note, that these impurities were supposed to be specific to tobacco. The only way you could get tobacco specific impurities was if there was tobacco in there. Again this points to a lack of proper regulation during vapor cigarette manufacturing.

This is why we strongly believe that it is best that you go with an electronic cigarette manufactured and distributed by a company that regulates the E-cig manufacturing process under strict guidelines and has made a genuine effort to test the authenticity of their product.

That’s why you should be picky when choosing an Electronic Cigarette!

The BAD News

The bad news is that the majority of E-cig companies/retailers don’t disclose information about the ingredients or quality control measures they take in the manufacturing process. These days most of us look at the calories, the cholesterol content, the sodium content etc. etc. of a food product before we bought it, so why buy an electronic cigarette whose ingredients we don’t know of?

The GOOD News

The good news is there are a few companies that do take it seriously and have gone to the trouble of getting their product tested by independent laboratories for both chemical components as well as electronic components! They are completely transparent about the ingredients of their product and publicly display the results they have obtained from testing their E-cigs. Now this is the kind of E-cig that would be safe to purchase and we would like to call the best electronic cigarette!
